2015

My oldest Granddaughter wanted me to teach her how to sew and with my Mom's old Kenmore machine we put together an apron for her.  I was tickled to help her and within an hour she now has a new apron and will think of sewing with Gramm when she wears it.  That little Kenmore even being plastic has been the best little machine, it'll sew through heavy denim no problem, I always have a jean hemming session when I'm back in SK, I"m sure they stockpile them.

I would like to thank everyone for all their support on the blog, it was a stressful time these past three weeks, losing my oldest brother was heartbreaking but with time the hurt will lessen.  Though I didn't respond individually to all your kind comments know I read them and felt comforted by them, many thanks.

But we are home at last and looking forward to a new year and wishing everyone all the best that 2015 can be.

I made a Start

Yes, I had the first clue started for Bonnie Hunter's GI Mystery Quilt and it'll be great to get back to it when we head home next week.  I have missed my quilting and realize now how therapeutic it is for me.
The frost has been spectacular while we've been spending our time here in Saskatchewan and I'll  always think of my brother Edwin when I see it.

Wings

My oldest brother Edwin was granted his Angel Wings today and may he soar, we'll miss him dreadfully.

No Other Place I'd Rather Be

Life is full of Joy and also of Sorrow and as we spend our time with my oldest brother as he journeys through his final days of battling Colon Cancer we experience both, the joy of his life he shared with us and the sorrow of knowing we'll soon have to say goodbye.

Wrestling my Christmas Quilt

Yesterday I wrestled my Christmas quilt and added the binding, now to stitch it down and add the  hanging sleeve.  I was a good girl and did all my domestic chores before settling into my sewing room, gotta keep those dust bunnies at bay sometimes.
Notice how I wrapped my binding around the knee lift, it worked really well and I only had a few twists, there's more than one way "to skin a cat".
The last touch will be a quilt label and I'm liking the looks of the ones that are added to the binding in the corner at an angle.  Note to self, if I'm going to do that I best be doing it before the binding is stitched down right!

Where did that month go

I admit I'm a lazy blogger but more than that I've lost my mojo so if you've found it please send it back to me ASAP, please.
Here is a sampling from last month's Quilt Club which is hosted by one of our local quilt shops, The Cloth Castle.   You'll always see something different from quilting to knitting so sit awhile and enjoy.

Daphne Grieg gave an interesting presentation on her association with Northcott Fabrics and brought a show and tell of her own.

Not one but two

So much for getting any machine embroidery done as both of my embroidery machines are down, the Husqvarna Ruby and Bernina 830 are both having issues so all I can say is thank goodness for my Vintage Singer Machines.  This is the second time for the same problem with the Husqvarna  so ask me how impressed I'm with it right now, especially when there are Christmas projects planned for.  One begins to ask themselves if all that money you pay for these machines is really worth it.
Will do some regular piecing today and nurse an awful root canal procedure but on the bright side it's not long until Bonnie Hunter reveals her GI Mystery Quilt, only three more days.
