Victoria Quilt Guild Show

Here are some of my favourite quilts from the Victoria Quilt Guild show which was held this past weekend and if you don't mind the first picture is of mine and I'm afraid the lighting was very poor for the size of this quilt but nonetheless it is of course my favourite!

this is for my oldest son and the colors represent his palette and unfortunately you can't see the magnificent job that Jennifer Watson of Quilting As Desired did of the machine quilting.

Time Away

We always head back to SK and AB for income tax season, insert groan, which is a necessary evil but the upside is we get to see family and friends.  This time my Hubby mentioned that his beloved West Coast car swap would coincide with our trip so why don't we head to Portland first then make our way back across the Northern States then pop back into Canada at the Alberta border.  So you know what that means, a trip to Fabric Depot for sure.  I was told by Sweet P and Woolie Mammoth to check out this other great quilt shop, Pioneer Quilt Shop and I fell in love with it the moment I walked through it's front door.  I heard laughter from the back room as a Sunday drop in was happening and I knew instantly it was the place for me with the beautiful Japanese taupe fabrics, wool and so much more, well you just know.
I did get a chance to walk some of downtown Portland and that's another story in itself but what a treat, the architecture is stunning, so happy to see the pride a city and it's community take in preserving its history.
I happened upon a cute place for lunch, Petunia's Pies and Pastries, small but very inviting

and though the name suggests only sweets I enjoyed a delicious Roasted Beet Salad.

We were able to fit in alot of visits with all those who mattered in our life and it was glorious but after three weeks home beckoned and it was time to head out.  The trip driving back was filled with rain, snow, slush, fog and lots of coffee.  So happy to be back in our own beds, but will miss the family and friends we always leave behind, especially these two who fill our hearts with so much love!

Slipper Update

Well look at them now.

After some hot water, minimal agitation and four days of drying time I have a great pair of slippers made by me!

Wool Project

Still plugging away on this wool project but I can finally see the "light".

Pineapple paper piecing class at Sawyers Sewing Centre was a fun day yesterday, learned lots and the  potluck lunch was outstanding.  Quilters never go hungry that's for sure and we all seem to know how to create great salads and desserts, yummy.

Off to clean an untidy sewing room, why oh why does that happen when you prepare for a class and when you bring your "stuff" back from it?

Sewing Machine Cover Frenzy

This cover is for my Bernina and I love how it turned out.

Now it's time for a box style cover for Valentine and I think she'll be responsible for sewing her own.  Here is my fabric all cut out ready to sew but I'll make sure that she has some sort of batting or stabilizer to protect her.

Enjoy your day, we finally have sunshine but it's brrr, cold out yet, so it'll be warmer clothes for my walk for sure.

My Sweet Valentine

Oh yes she is and may I introduce you to my sweetest Valentine gift ever, a 301 Singer Vintage Sewing Machine.

Sew now I lovingly call her Valentine, doesn't she make your heart go pitter, patter too!  After 38 years my hubby still gets top marks and I will always remember my 2014 Valentine gift.  He won her on Ebay for me and what makes my heart happy too is that in the Instruction Manual there is the name Stella Simpson so I assume that was the first owner? and maybe the only.  I don't really know but may I send it out there Stella Simpson that I will love and care for my sweet Valentine as much as you did all those years ago.

What's Your Thangles

Well my new Thangles is the Block Of the Month I started today and its going to be sweeeeeet, just check it out.

Don't you just love how your camera can make blocks look  all askew? No I don't either but you know sometimes you just got to move on.

Funny Shapes

An I'm not talking about my body but I do have a secret to tell so keep your ear close now...I've lost 10 lbs. Shh, I'm looking to lose another 10 so lets just keep this between you and me OK.
The funny shape I'm talking about is this pair of slippers that will be felted soon.  This is my first attempt at said knitting project so I'm very excited to have them down to my size soon.

See  how one is bigger than the other, well that's just my inconsistent knitting tension but that will work out because I have one foot a half size larger  than the other which is my Mom's fault.  Once they get felted they'll be awesome.
Also did a couple of more Owls In The Hoop and hope to make a couple more as they'll be gifts for my Grand daughters plus a couple on hand for gifts if I need something really quick. They need to be stuffed yet so that's a project to do while watching the Tellie.

Hoop It All Class

This is from our monthly Hoop It All class this past Saturday where we learn how to get the most out of our Embroidery machines.  It's a sewing machine cover which I made larger to cover my 830 Bernina though I do alot of my stitch-outs with my Husqvarna Ruby.

Here is some pictures of other ladies projects and what a great morning we had with lots of giggles and quilty stories.

I actually finished my project so it didn't end up in the UFO pile and I can actually use it, do you hear a loud Woot, Woot?

The weather outside is cool and windy today so I'm going to park myself in front of my sewing machine and play some more, hopefully you get some time to do the exact same thing.
