Wool Sandwich

Just a quick blog to show everyone what a wool sandwich looks like, hope it doesn't make you too hungry.

I know, I know it's just too delicious right and all the way from The Road To California. A wool expert named P took time out of her day at TRTC to find a triple decker for me. I know I'm really spoiled but I'll take it and be very proud of it.

Here it is before it commingled and became a woolly spectacular Dagwood style sandwich.

How funny, I never noticed one was upside down until just now. When I took this picture I was in the midst of a swoon you know. So I have tucked it away with the rest of the my woolly treasures and I keep looking back at the container just to see if it's still there and all mine. Yes it is!!!

Just another shout out to Laura Krasinski from http://laurasartontherun.blogspot.com/ . I won a giveaway from her quite awhile back and would like to show you this fat quarter she gifted me. It was snow dyed, yes you heard me snow dyed. So nice to know there are some creative uses for snow.

Sew there you have it and not a calorie in sight but you know Easter is on it's way so be careful of those pesky Cadbury Mini Eggs, there everywhere.

Anniversary Quilt Progress

Just letting you have a quick peek at my progress so far on the Anniversary quilt I am working on for my youngest son and his wife. Next step, square this puppy up and add the borders and I'm not looking forward to that one little bit. Insert big SIGH.

I will be glad to have my living room floor back though even if it means I have to vacuum.

I also did some hand stitching tonight on my first wool hand applique project. Sure hope I'm stitching these right!

Well off to bed and hope the body feels up to a cardio and yoga workout in the morning. Goodnight all.

An anniversary quilt in the making

This April marks the 10 Anniversary of my youngest son Cameron and his amazing partner in life Teri-Lynn's wedding. Of course I don't have the pictures of their special day on this computer so you'll have to be satisfied with this make do snapshot.

There were so many great memories of that perfect day and it was perfect in our eyes.

They gave us two amazing Grand daughters, Madison who is 7 and Brooke who is 5.

This picture was taken a couple of years ago but I just love it and makes my heart happy whenever I look at it.

Teri wanted the Anniversary quilt done in greens and browns and I knew I wanted to make it in Batiks so here are the fabrics I choose.

I know Cameron would be happy with anything I make, he's a sentimental kinda guy and I love that in him. I found the batiks at a quilt shop called Bib n'Tucker here in Victoria and they have the most amazing selection of Batiks (said to have the biggest selection on Vancouver Island).

I am doing the Lover's Knot Quilt by Eleanor Burns and I know there is love being sewn into that quilt every time I work on it. Here is a sneak peek of what has been keeping me busy in my sewing room these days.

April will be here before I know it so off I go to add some more love. Enjoy your day and may it be a quilty one.

Quilt Club didn't disappoint

Tuesday saw the start of Quilt Club for 2012 and it didn't disappoint. Thanks to Doreen from Duncan for giving me the nudge as I was so excited to see what everyone was doing that I forgot to pull out my camera to get all the quilty goodness on record. So here is most (I hope) of what was brought for Show and Tell that morning.

Sorry this is so blurry Doreen but what a fab job you did.

This quilt was hand stitched and is just stunning. Carol said it took her about 13 months to do it and all I can say is wow.

Love these Prairie Points, gonna make me some and it might be out of red and white fabric, just saying.

Hey, that's mine. I usually forget to take pictures of my show and share because I'm always busy telling a story about my contribution to the morning and let me tell you there always is a yarn!

These are knitted wool felted slippers and Myrna said they are really easy to do. She is going to show some of us next week how to do them. I'm not a great knitter but she said it's so easy we'll see. I even bought some Bamboo knitting needles for this project and wow they sure aren't cheap. Do you think they'll make me a better knitter?

For those of us who forgot what these looked like it's a diaper, so cute. I just had a scary flashback thinking of the days before Pampers and I seen a lot of those days I'll tell you.

This quilt of mine was machine quilted by Carol , a quilt shop owner in Vermillion, Alberta. The shop is called Extraordinary Extras and is a great gem along the Yellowhead Highway in Alberta so if you ever get a chance to visit it you'll not be disappointed.

Well there was a bit of quilting, a bit of knitting and even a homemade diaper thrown into the mix so hope you enjoyed Cloth Castle's quilt club show and tell because as always I sure did. So I'm off to try and find some wool thread to start one of my wool projects, wish me luck!

Mug Mats again!

I know, it is almost a sickness with me those addictive mug mats. I think it is because you can be creative without investing much time and expense. Anyways a quilty lady I know had a Birthday (no ages revealed here) and when a few of us crafty gals got together I knew this was a good way to feed my obsession and whip up a gift. Quickly I dug into my Valentine fabric stash and after oohing and ahhing over my delectable candy themed fabrics I decided on some yummy goodness and made Ms. Cindy this tasty treat.

Look, no problem if a little chocolate gets smeared on this 'cause who's gonna see it with all these colors right. Though I can't imagine anyone even accidentally misplacing a minute amount of chocolate.

I also was the recipient of a Valentine mug mat from The Rogue Quilter as you know a challenge is a challenge right-wink, wink! Gosh I'm spoiled, look what she quilted up for moi!

Imagine that, she had some of the same material I have but she made the MM into a half Dresden style. So cute, so me! I have it sitting next to my sewing machine and it feels right at home.

I've been working on a couple of what I call dresser scarves? for my Grand daughters and was to hand deliver them today but alas I couldn't fly back to Saskatchewan with my hubby. I know they 'll be very disappointed that Gramm couldn't make it but Papa is loved dearly too so he'll have to make up for my absence. This was when they were in the planning stages.

Look at those angel wings aren't they so sweet. I used my Slice to cut out these shapes and let me tell you once you start cutting you can go hog wild and get lost for hours cutting out flowers, hearts, wings, etc. I love that little gadget and what's great about it is it's so small that I can tuck it away without sacrificing much storage space.

The season of cherry blossoms are upon us and that means here in Victoria Spring is not that far away.

I took this picture a couple of days ago closer to dusk near the Gorge Rowing and Kayaking Club and as I don't own a sophisticated camera this is as good as it gets. As well as Cherry blossom time it is Blood Orange season and I try to consume as many as my budget allows.

These yummy oranges are pretty pricey and I'm sure glad my hubby doesn't like them otherwise I'd have to share. But them he likes Granville Island beer and I don't so there's the trade off.

Well I think it's time to head to my sewing room and enjoy a quiet Sunday and for those of you who just might watch the Super Bowl's half time show let's keep our fingers crossed that Madonna doesn't have a wardrobe malfunction either this year!

Twisteritis!

I have an obsession with the Twister and now it has become a sickness which I call Twisteritis.

Here is what 8 squares of fabric left over from a charm pack look like. I knew there was a Twister something in there and not to let sleeping dogs lie....

This may be a Christmas charm pack but it's looking more like New Year's Twisteritis.

These cute little squares are being readied for action and believe me it was hard work. I even had to kick off my shoes to get the job done. Ouch, more Twisteritis on the horizon. Look out Pacific Blue Cross, I'll be making a health claim pretty soon.

Needing to satisfy my mug mat urge which comes over me not near as often as those awful hot flashes, I did a little something up for a Rogue and with the help of my Slice Fabrique it has a Valentine's feel.

I hope you all can spend a little time this weekend on your Quilty Pleasures but beware, there may be a strain of Twisteritis out there lurking in your future too.

A Six Pack Arrives

Not just your average six pack but a Joanna Figueroa collection sent by Kathleen Gansert from NY. My number was picked in Katie Q's giveaway and this is what I received this week via a neighbor. Our not so reliable postal worker put it in their mailbox by mistake and so they were kind enough to hand deliver it to me rather than just mark the package wrong box! Thank goodness for honest people.

Thanks Kathleen I will do my best to quilt up something to make you proud!

So with that in mind it's time to make my way to my most favourite room in my home, my sewing room. Happy Sunday and I sure hope the snow melts that showed up over night so that I have a safe drive to the airport to pick up my hubby.

Back In The Saddle Again

Back from the Prairies after 3 weeks with family and I am so happy to be home. What I missed most of course is my quilting. I have a dear quilting friend back in Alberta who I worked with for 15 years. We also got the quilting bug together and though I moved to Victoria we still keep in contact and I miss her terribly. This was my surprise gift from her and what a surprise. She is pretty sneaky as she showed me this round table topper at her home and of course I just fell in love with it. Well guess what I received from her for Christmas, yes it was this beauty.

She knows how much I like coffee fabrics and the color lime green, well this round table topper has them both so thanks CJ you are awesome.

Christmas is put away and house cleaned so today is my day and that means quilt, quilt, quilt.

Quilt 'Til You Wilt

It was QTYW this past Saturday at one of our local quilt shops, The Cloth Castle. I originally missed out but was able to buy a spot from another gal who couldn't make it. She did end up coming though and that's another story. All I can say is we quilters will beg, borrow or buy back a spot to attend this night of quilting, laughter and of course eating!

I bought a charm pack from a Victoria Quilt Guild garage sale a couple of years ago. I knew the colors would be the bomb for a friend's kitchen. I started the project at home and pieced it at QTYW.

Yesterday I finished quilting it and yes it is a twister pattern, oh sew cute!

I stayed up way too late to sew down the binding last night but I wanted it finished. Look how pretty she is, just strutting her stuff.

I had to add this picture of one of my fellow quilters who recently just bought a new Diamond Deluxe sewing machine. That smile is frozen on her face and I totally understand why.

Look what also wanted to be a part of the evening fun.

You never know who or what will show up.

So off to my happy room and I just have to show you the new lights that were installed in my quilting room. When the electrician seen the lights he was to put up he asked me if I was sure these were the ones I really wanted up there. I knew he thought they are butt ugly and yes they are but as I told him I want good lighting not good looks. He just shook his head and I laughed, I didn't want pretty and I sure didn't get pretty but look at all that light-no shadows.

I am taking a bow for my finishes and here are some pictures to prove it did happen.

This runner was a class given at The Cloth Castle for their Christmas tea and what fun we all had. I dug deep and pulled out some Laurel Birch fabric for this project, don't you just love her happy colors. Miss you Laurel.

A mug mat of leftover strips from the Figgy Pudding line I used.

Above is a coaster that I finished and one that is in the process. Yes, I challenged myself to use up these fabrics and I did a pretty good job.

This is one of two placemats that I might let my hubby use, watch those crumbs please.

There are a dozen placemats here and that should be how many people at my Son's dinner table for the Christmas chow down. Now those are the flattest snowmen I've ever seen.

I've added some hand stitching with metallic thread and so far so good.

Who doesn't love a Snowman, especially one that attracts birds!

This Angel wall hanging will be for my Mom who lives in her own suite in a Seniors Lodge. They are her colors and she likes sparkle and this has it for sure.

I have some flannel in the dryer and am hoping for a cuddly lap quilt to be miraculously finished for Christmas. Maybe not this year but in quilter lingo, there is always next year.

GO! Halloween placemats

I wanted to bring Halloween placemats for my Grand daughters Maddy and Brooke when I visited them for 8 days this month (I just got back on Tuesday). So I set up the GO! and got to work and this is what came from my antics.

I used both my Accuquilt GO! and Baby GO! for this project and it took no time at all to do.
So with these placemats, books, chocolate and other goodies I flew back to the Prairies to visit these little ladies.

Maddy and Brooke who live back in Saskatchewan are the love of my life are enjoying a cup of hot chocolate with the other love of my life, my hubby Dale who I will be married to for 36 years on the 1st of November.

They only use placemats on the oak table not on the breakfast bar in the kitchen, whew, don't want them to get in trouble with cocoa spills!

Now that was Fun!

A friend and I took a class called the Mexican Star yesterday at one of our local quilt shops and we were lucky enough to be the only two students in the class. You know you are going to get great one on one with that ratio. We were even able to get the main top pieced, how thrilling. Take a peek at our project.

When you manage to get this far in a class you know that it won't be one of those UFO projects that you rediscover five years later in the bottom of your closet hidden away in a plastic container.

Isn't this a nice bit of goodness that I received in the mail the other day. Found these online at great prices and though I support my local quilt shops quite well sometimes I do succumb to the odd great sale out there in cyberspace.

The little craft iron will be flying with me when I visit my Grand daughters next week. I think it will be just perfect for them when they help Grandma Quilt, don't you?

I never find quilt related item when I shop our local thrift shops until this little beauty showed up on their shelf about a week ago. Check out the price for a new ruler-$1.00. Yes, life is good.

So, off I go with coffee and computer in hand (my son from Vancouver hooked my computer up so I can now watch TV programs on it) to settle in for a day of quilting at home.

Christmas isn't that far away

I'm not even going to start doing the Christmas countdown but I do know that when I "dug" out a Christmas project that I had started last year and not finished, OK I know I'm not the only one out there so don't shake your head with disgust because guess what? I was further along with it than I thought. Sometimes ignorance is bliss and by gosh I'm feeling a lot of bliss today. When I was deciding on what to take for our quilt day on the Gorge my rummaging unearthed this project which was quietly saying pick me, pick me. So here is the bagged evidence now in the running to be completed for Christmas. Any bets?

This picture is of what I worked on today and will end up being Half Square triangles for the pieced border. I really still like these colors, good thing because I'm not changing them now.

So keep posted and cheer me on because a little bit of go-go-go will only help me reach the finish line.

Busted

Well, today at Quilter's Club I was admonished for my inconsistency in my blogging and yes, I am guilty as charged. Laziness, lack of useful information, bashful, hmm what could it be? I think I have been keeping so busy doing all the blog hops that I felt I was spending far too much time on the computer and not enough time on my quilting and didn't allow the time I should for my personal blogging. Perhaps I try too hard to entertain and felt that I had nothing that would keep you on your toes. Nah-just lazy! My pledge is to do better and keep my Quilting Club girls happy and with that sit back and enjoy a few pictures that I took this morning of our October Quilt Club. You know there is a waiting list to be at this monthly club. Bribery isn't even an option!

It's a happy and enthusiastic group and by gosh I plan on keeping my membership paid up or I'll be the one with my nosed pressed to the window standing on the outside looking in with tears rolling down my cheeks, I think you get it!
Quilting is not just a hobby, it is a way of life for me at least and whew good thing I took that fork in the road.

Thinking Christmas

Yikes you're saying but if I don't start now it'll be one of those next year projects and I don't want to go there. So here is what I am working on and yes I have already made one just like that. But because I have two Grand daughters and they are so close in age I make things in pairs.

It was a panel so will be transformed into a wall hanging with lots of bling.

So off I happily go to spend the day with my Bernina and latest audio book. I am listening to Maya Angelou's Letter To My Daughter which I downloaded from my local library, isn't technology wonderful when you can understand it!!! Have a great Sunday everyone.

A little finish but oh so cute

Yes, I finally had a finish. Quilter's club at Cloth Castle on Tuesday warranted a finish, after all it's been over two months since we all met so I needed to bring a show and tell that I had actually finished. So at 10:30 PM on Monday night I started a little project that included bead embellishment which I'm not very adept at but I completed it.

She's pretty cute and I'm going to say this real quiet but she's going to be stuck full of pins.

Here are pictures of a few projects from the talented members of the club. We are Cloth Castle groupies and let me tell you there is a waiting list to be one!

This is done on an embroidery hoop and the front is as pretty as the back.

Cloth Castle is bringing a gal to teach Knitting and this is one of her projects.

Now that is a sweet scarf and has a little sparkle.

Grace did this cute pin holder for the arm of the couch. I made one last year and it sure has come in handy.

Tumbling Blocks Gone Awry

So this is what is going on while my hubby is away and I don't have to pick up my quilt blocks from the living room floor. Not that he hasn't walked around blocks there before but at least I don't feel guilty about it.

And this is where more of the action is happening. So much fun that I must get back to it right now.

On a crazier note, here is a picture of a pair of socks I bought a couple of days ago.

They have left and right on them. Now what happens if you don't know what is left or right? Just saying!

More Holes?! and a near finish

Yes, I've created more holes, that is Hole-In-One blocks.

Also finished piecing this quilt top which is for charity.

I used my AccuQuilt to cut the strips for the borders as I did for the four patch blocks shown in an earlier post.

So quick and precise. My oh my you make my life GO! easier.

Lined up ready for action.

Borders are added.

Looks nice on the table but will be for a bed someday I hope.

Pacific West Quilt Show

I've finally recovered from the Pacific West Quilt Show in Tacoma, Washington. Many thanks to the Victoria Quilter's Guild who arranged the bus trip and kept us all on track. Except for the little glitch at the border when you know who tried to get across with what she thought was an enhanced driver's licence. Yes, me of course, but whew I made it. Every quilt show I attend I'm more and more amazed at the talent displayed. This one was no exception and I was in awe. How do they do it?

This was done in silks and was quite subtle in it's coloring but very effective.

Done in wool by Natasha aka Joy of Quilting. This has special meaning for her and done with a few tears I'm sure.

This past weekend was filled with .....quilting, of course. The Cloth Castle had their annual Quilter's Along the Avenue quilt challenge and though I didn't have anything entered I thoroughly enjoyed those who did. The theme was Crazy Patch quilts and I have quilt envy again.

The next day I was back at Cloth Castle to take a class with a great teacher, Bettye Sheppard. We are lucky that the USA lets us borrow her for several months of the year. Her quilting knowledge is extensive and we learnt so many quilty things. Her class is called Hole-In -One and is a type of Stack 'N Wack.

I took a little trip up island to Naniamo to visit a quilt shop called Snip and Stitch who had their annual tent sale on yesterday. There was a lot less fabric left because Sweet P - aka Paulette had been there ahead of me. No, I don't NEED anything she said. I needed to be a good girl because near the end of August I am going to the APWQ ( Association of Pacific West Quilters ) Show in Tacoma, Washington with the Victoria Quilt Guild so I must save my quilting money for that.

I did buy some fat quarters which ranged from $1.59 to $1.99 that will work well for my Farmer's Wife project and because I had a coupon for 30% off of reg priced items I found a GO! die and rack that was calling my name. I didn't overspend but came home pleased with my finds.

My quilting buddy found this book while there and purchased it for me for an early birthday gift. I was so pleased as I love Scrappy! It is the All Time Favorite Scrappy Quilts book from That Patchwork Place. Lucky me. This how you save time using your GO! At least that is what I hoped to do. I wanted to make some 4 patches so I cut out a pile of 2 1/2'' lengths with my GO! After sewing them in strips I was bemoaning having to cut the sewn strips for the four patches. So here is where the laziness aka resourcefulness reared itself.

What if I took those strips and laid them on the GO! and cut them crosswise?
I drew a line parallel to the cutting blades at the top of the die with a Sharpie pen.

I lined up my first strip exactly on that new line then added another four strips underneath that. You can't rush this, take your time. After all it's sink or swim now right. Then the GO! did it's magic and my strips were cut once again.

I measured them to make sure they were accurate and of course they were. After all I'm using the Go! remember.

Once sewn together they look like this.

Look how cute they are all pressed.

This was fast and precise so it doesn't get much better than that.

I made the rule so I can break the rule.

After working on my scrappy Tumbler quilt I knew that I didn't have enough light scrappy pieces. My thought was to only use scraps but I had to 'scrap' that rule and went to my stash and found these Batik pieces and with a quick roll of my Baby Go! it got me on the right track. I love my Baby Go! because it takes no time at all to cut up these Tumbler pieces, less than a minute, no kidding it's that fast!

Also another couple of blocks from my Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt.

I had planned to get back to my Dresden Quilt but once I pressed the stitching and started the process of turning these little cuties I changed my mind. I knew this was a job to be done while watching a boring show on TV so I quietly set it aside.

Once that decision was made I cleaned my sewing room, no picture of a before and after so you'll just have to take my word for it. I then finished off a couple more FWQS blocks. I put together #21 Contrary Wife (Does a contrary wife even exist?)

A shout out to a talented and generous quilter, Rachelle Quadros who is the gal sitting in the picture. Once a month Rachelle gives our quilt group 10 blocks of The Farmer's Wife Quilt Sampler she has already worked the kinks out of. Yes, we are lucky to have someone do all the math and shortcuts for our joint project. You rock Rachelle.

Well, today is the big day and I decided to phone my mother who lives in a Senior's Lodge in LLoydminster, Ab to randomly choose a number from 1-467 and she choose #81. More FWQS and mug mats

Spent the day finishing off theses mug mats for gifts my husband is giving to a couple from the US. They have booked him for a Butchart Garden and city tour (Victoria, BC) in his1954 Caddy Limo. The lady that contacted him for the tour was recommended by her mother who took a tour with Dale awhile back. The Mom is a quilter and noticed the Fancy Nancy quilt I made for the Caddy. So I thought why not give them a couple of mug mats for themselves and the same for Mom and Dad.

I'm a certified mug mat fiend and this is where I have fun with the Slice! They may have to smuggle them across the border as they are pretty priceless and may put them over their $ limit.

Go! Instructions are simple

I wanted to try my hand at giving a Go! demonstration using one of my newly acquired dies.
The die I will demo is the Quarter Square-4" Finished Triangle.

The first thing to do when you get a new die is to outline the blade area.
This will help to position your fabric on the die.

Once you have chosen your fabric colors cut strips 11 1/2" wide across the width of your fabric.

Give them both a press.

You can fan fold your fabric to lay it on the die or just cut strips.

The fabric then can be placed on the die to cut. Cut your fabric on the straight of grain to reduce distortion.

I was going to use my Baby Go! but switched over to the regular Go! (the one my hubby bought me for my Birthday). Yes I am pretty spoiled but in a good way.

Look at this delightful pile-oh-la-la and with the dogears already cut off. So sweet and time saving.

You now can sew right sides together. Match the two lighter fabrics and the two darker fabrics in pairs. Remember you are dealing with raw bias edges so handle carefully.

Chain piece wherever you can, it does save time and thread.

Make sure to press your seams as you go. Lock those babies together!

Press seams open towards the darker fabric.

Your pairs can now be joined into an Hourglass unit. Once again set your seams then press open.
Continue this process until you have Four Hourglass units made.

We're at the home stretch. Sew your Hourglass blocks together in pairs, press the seams, then join the pairs together to make a block.

As you can see I do pin to match my seams and still hope for the best.

Press seams to set then open your block and press it.
Now wasn't that super easy and the time you save cutting using the Go! machine is phenomenal (big word).
You can get all the details off of the instruction page when you purchase the die. Have fun, it is easy peasy (too much Jaime Oliver).

I cut some more Triangles and then cut some more and then....... well I did make a little project using the Quarter Square-4" Finished Triangle die, the Go! Strip Cutter-1 1/2" and from my Value die, the 2 1/2" square. Can you see where I used what?

AccuQuilt has Landed

AccuQuilt has landed/arrived by a very harried UPS man thanks to our Canadian postal Strike.

Awhile ago I mentioned that I was the lucky recipient of three dies of my choice from AccuQuilt. Paulette over at Sweet P Quilting was "sweet" enough to mention that she had two gals, actually she called us sharks, that were very interested in some dies that were duplicates of a set she had won. Rather than send them back to AccuQuilt they graciously said to give the duplicate set to one of the Sharks aka Vicki over at Vicki B Quilts and the other sharkie could pick out three dies of her choice. So there I was with the chance to pick out my own. Time to do the Arsenio Hall (that dates me) fist pump.

Well if any of you have perused the AccuQuilt die site you know what an extensive selection they have. I knew I would like to choose ones that would work with what I already own. So here is what I decided on.

Doesn't that sound too good to be true but it actually happened and I did my civic duty by participating in their stash buster sale and helped deplete their over indulgence in fabric. Oh, that can't be, too much fabric, no way. As I overheard a conversation they were just selling off to buy new. Bless their dear little hearts. I thank-you, I thank-you, I thank-you!

I don't have many yellows so was happy to find a great bunch of yellow fat quarters.

Look at these gold tones. They'll come in handy for one of my Christmas projects.

This is a little blurry perhaps because I was imagining myself riding atop the elephant on this happy fabric.

Just liked the look of these. I have a grandson that is into snowboarding so I can see a winter wall hanging from the blue piece. Whoosh-couldn't you just feel that brush of cold air.

If I see a piece of Snoopy fabric I am all over it and with Peanuts being so hard to find I quickly scooped up this goody.

Aww- Jim Shore fabric and a kit too, gotta have it.

And what did I find here hiding amongst the grass, no just kidding, just some real great green pieces and I need some for my Farmer's Wife Quilting Sampler.

Books, Books and more books. They really looked like they needed a home so I jumped to their rescue.

I can see a cute table topper from this one can't you, hmm.

Never hate Mondays

I love Mondays, yes I do, do, do and here is why. I have this amazing quilt blogging buddy who thought of me when she was awarded with three new dies for her Accuquilt awhile back. The Go team sent her duplicates and there she was with extras. Well, you know quilters are great with sharing their goodness so she was able to keep the extras to give them away to another Go owner and guess what they also allowed her to giveaway three more dies. That is where I come in and it didn't take me long to scan the Accuquilt site to pick out three new dies. I still can't believe my luck and hope to be able to share some goodness in the near future.

This block is called Big Dipper and is the type of block one can do on a late Sunday night.

Yes, that is exactly when it was done.

As there is no maid in my house I am lucky enough to do the housecleaning and laundry so that's why I was quilting late into the evening.

#7 is called Birds in the Air.

These blocks look rather wonky but they are Kathy perfect. I'll let you think on that one.

This is #10 Bowtie and yes it is out of sequence but then so is my life.
I quilt the easier ones late in the day and attack the more compilcated when, well you know how it is.

I had a great Saturday evening at Cloth Castle participating in their Quilt Until You Wilt. Now I know what goes on behind those closed doors on a Saturday. I would share pictures but was told what goes on at Quilt Until You Wilt stays at Quilt Until You Wilt. And boy I wanna go back so this chickie is playing by the rules.

Pillowcases for my Girls

My daughter-in-law, Teri asked me to make some pillowcases for the camper for my Granddaughters Maddy and Boo(Brooke). The colors are fun and I hope they think of me after a long day of playing and swimming at the lake.

The bottom picture is of a table runner I made for Teri.

It was from a kit she picked out. What drew her to it was the well loved look.

Sampler Quilt is on!

Since there was no rain in the forecast I decided to start The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt. That was on Wednesday and once it was all organized I ended up with one block and this is it.

#1 is Attic Window

I wasn't happy with it so I plowed it under.

There is a difference believe me.

I managed to do a few more.

I still need to hand stitch the handle down

I am working on #5 Bat Wing and because it has been years since I've done Foundation Piecing it's driving me you know what!

Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt

This is what the next quilting project looks like for our Satellite Quilt group that meets twice a month at my recreation room here on the Gorge Waterway. It is a book of letters from 1920 farm wives and the 111 blocks they inspired. I'm hoping my fabric choices will work as the material pictured in the book certainly is not in my stash. I can't wait to get started. Why do we need to sleep when there is so much quilting one wants to do. Am I the only one that that goes to bed at night and hope I sleep fast so I can get back to my sewing room and start quilting again. I think not!

Members of the Cloth Castle Quilt shop invited all quilters to check out

some of the newest of the new out there in the Quilting world after returning from Spring Market. Well, were we spoiled. We enjoyed learning new techniques, seeing new fabrics and notions. Wow, there are sure some talented people out there creating and sharing their talents. After a great presentation, numerous demonstrations and yummy treats the giveaway started and what great freebies. I won a cool pattern and can't wait to open that puppy up and get cutting with my Accuquilt. A shoutout to everyone at Quilt Market who provides all these great items so quilt shop owners like Cloth Castle can come back and share the goodness.

There sure was a great crowd and the kids were happily sitting on the floor taking it all in. Wink, Wink! Well, look who was there but Sweet P Quilting and The Rogue Quilter! What a fun evening!

The last couple of days have been so much fun at Westshore Guild's Quilt show. There are so many talented quilters in our guild that one can only be in awe of the talent that has been on display. There are some favourites and nearly impossible to select just one.

This is what I've been up to today. Good thing I needed to pin my quilt, my kitchen floor got a much needed wash. No point in washing it just for the fun of it right.

Hubby is happy with my progress. He thinks he might just get the quilt by this weekend and I'm going to try and not disappoint him.

A Busy Sunday

I enjoyed an hour of cardio at the gym and 1 1/2 hr yoga workout this morning. Why does it never show on the scale. Must be the chocolate.

Finished cutting out a quilt for my husband's 1954 Caddy Limo. He wants it to drape over the back of his front seat. He has been in and out of my sewing room all day and I told him he is hovering and he just gives me that aren't you done yet look. Oh well it is kinda nice to do something quilty just for him.

I am doing it in brown batiks and it is going pretty well, famous last words!

This is what I have been working on while being sick with a cold. Though I don't feel great I do have enough energy to quilt while the weather outside is so not like regular Victoria weather. I don't feel one bit guilty while I hunker down. It is called Ripless Paper Piecing and I'm afraid I don't have enough deep pink for around the blocks. Plan B-no plan B!
